Essay

On September 21, 2017, a big catastrophe came to Puerto Rico, hurricane Maria. After the event many students of our university tried their best to stay healthy even though with the economic problems and lack of energy in Puerto Rico. Also, what do medical specialists think about this situation?

Based on the study that we made to 38 students of the university, most of their diet were based on can food, MRE, and junk food. From these 38 students only 6 of them continued their exercise routine even without electricity. 25 of the students managed to take part of the social lunch at the university and based on their opinions it was a lovely experience and it was an effective way to eat at college without money. But all the 38 students did not take part of the free medical service. Only 18 students got ill because of the mold that was running on the campus.

We did graphs trying to look for numbers and for hundreds that allowed to us to know how many students were suffering for health situations. The percentage rise at an unexpected level. Really there needed these fairs of health and all the initiatives that were realized after impact of the Hurricane Maria. The situation was quite difficult but with the activities they managed to muffle the situation.

We interview two nurses who took part during the health fairs after the Hurricane Maria. We asked 5 short but intense questions to both of them for the health and him well-being of the students and other participants. Between the questions, we ask them to allow us to know they experiences. How did they feel on having attended to the community and since it is situation helped them personally. Those two women opened they heart and counted its anecdotes. It is incredible as in addition to helping in health area there were an emotional support for those who needed it.

In conclusion, we established an investigation to be able to manage to know how many students turned out to be affected of health and how we could help to face them. Although Maria left very much nutritive ravages no student god for conquered. Across the graphs we describe a big percentage of the university community that suffered because of the Hurricane. It was amazing to see professionals working in the university of Puerto Rico at Humacao. They opened its heart and told us its experiences. The Hurricane Maria could create many ravages but it never discouraged the heart of the university community that nowadays is still in foot.
